rattling heat shield ?

just like the subject says. has anyone had a problem with this? im getting a noise that seems RPM related, but today i dawned on me that it could be a loose heat sheild, maybe tapping when under acceleration, due to headers or cats, or whatever, moving a slight bit. keep in mind, it only seems to do this when under light acceleration (it may do it under heavy acc., i just cant hear it) does this make any sence to you guys? it may be a little far fetched, but id like to narrow it down w/o having to take the MREV out in order to bring it in for service.

TIA, Gunner

If it's a tinny rattle sound then, yup sounds about right. After your car cools poke around and see if there is any loose. Good luck!!

if nothing is loose and the rattles still continues, you can use an engine dampener to rid the rattle

I actually have the same problem with my car, not sure if its the heatsheild or not. When i turn on the car everything is fine and it wont do much until the car is warmed up. Whenever i turn the car to the left it makes this god aweful sound underneath the car (almost sounds like it comes from that center console) also when i floor it around 80mph to 100mph there will be a bad vibration as well. Let me know what vibration noises you are getting, maybe i have the same thing. I have been trying to figure it out for about 2 months, but never thought of it being a heatsheild.

I've been living with such a rattle for almost a year. Not enough clearance w/ my Crawford Cats. I only notice once in a while. It's hard to tell whats a rattle and whats rasp sometimes.

I had the exact same situation, and it drove me absolutely nuts. It was definitely worse when the engine was cold (I'm sure I was really popular in the morning in my neighborhood).

A month or two went by before I did anything about it (just between work and family), and then I finally brought it back to the shop that installed my exhaust, Advanced Motor Sports in Lake Forest, CA. I realize I have stated this previously on this site, but the customer service and quality of work provided by Mike Shapiro and his team is top notch.

The exhaust pipe and the frame support were rubbing as seen in the pictures. I believe the solution that AMS configured was a dampener between the exhaust pipe and the frame support.

Can you guys with the rattlers take them back to the shops that worked on your cars?

if you have the 300hp model there is a oil consumption problem. check your oil, i went through 4 quartz in 2 month, the dealer reserviced the car and still about a quart every 3 weeks is burning. they told me that they have replaced at least 4 motors already. if the car is driven hard it burns oil extremely fast. now i am required an oil change every 2500 miles with the newer motor.

youre right about this model burning oil, however, this is not the cause of my "noise". but your not alone in thinking that, as that was my first thought all along.
