Timing belts

What is the schedule on these?

I know that, historically, on many OHC engines you are supposed to replace them every 60K miles, though on an 88 nova I never did, and it was at 107K when I sold it.

I didn't see an item called timing belts in the maintenance schedule, unless it is covered by drive belt, which is changed every 30K miles.

Thanks,
Kevin

The VQ35 has a timing chain. It should never need to be replaced. The timing chain tensioner may crap out on you at 100-120K, but it's a pretty easy and cheap fix because there is an access port on the timing chain cover.

Chains do stretch over time and eventually will need to be replaced as well. Think of it like a Bicycle chain. They stretch and start to flap after sometime. Same thing. Just not as soon as belts of course.
