yeah, thats the noise! so if that is normal, i am not concerned!

thanks for answering my questions guys.
the odd thing is that not everyone gets that sound, so i was a little worried, but the car drives fine, so i can rest easy for now

The sound you're hearing is coming from the throttle-plate under medium to heavy load. The noise is always there, it's just that the aftermarket intakes and cone filters remove all resonating effects of the OEM setup. The noise is normal.

same with my Stillen intake, i agree with sjc1789 and perarL05g. I only can hear my when the rpm is getting near 2500 or above or heavy on the pedal and shifting. I am pretty sure there isn't any leak on my installation and it actually sounded very kool. It does sound like i had a tiny BOV.

Thank God I've found some other people with the same issue!

I just recently installed my MRev from Motordyne for my '03 5AT and noticed a significant "sucking" sound coming from the engine bay.....checked all the hose clamps (tight/fine) and didn't hear any noise coming from the plenum gaskets....I really thought something was awry. It was way worse, loud, and hissy after the ECU reset, but now that I've got 200 miles on it, it's calmed down a bit with the ECU now remapping itself.

I've also got Borla headers, RT cats, Crawford plenum, Nismo CAI and Borla exhaust....I guess with all of the free air moving through, some noise has to be made; definitely sounds like a small turbo with a BOV.

Not being scientific, but I'm definitely getting better gas mileage by about 2mpg (non-romping of course!) and the power is awesome - a friggin monster on the highway with the peddle thru the floor! Exhaust sounds more throaty at the lower RPM levels when cruising and it's sounds great in manual mode when down shifting as the gurgle sounds way cool.

At least I can sleep at night.....about the next mods.....

its called variable valve timing and when the car hits a certain rpm the degreeing on the cams change thus creating a different resonance within the intake tract which in turn is much more noticable with and aftermarket intake installed. quite normal.
