Installed my Injen CAI and I'm Having Issues....NEED HELP

Hey Guys and gals,

I installed my CAI the other day and everything went smooth, it was a pieace of cake.

But then as i turned on my car and started driving it around, i noticed a high pitched sound coming from my engine, upon further investigation i dtermined the sound was coming from the throttle body.

If the i hit the gas hard or even as im accellerating moderately i hear a high pitched squeeling sound coming from the throttle. Is this normal or not? The sound is kinda annoying and just doesn't sound right, almost like something is loose and/or not wokring right. the car drives fine and there are no check engine lights on, so i wanted to know if it was normal before i uninstall the whole thing and put the stock box back in.

Thanks for the help!

Squeeling is not "normal". Something is loose and letting air get in where it shouldn't. Re-check your installation.

thanks for the help, but i double and triple checked the seals and the install, the noise only comes on at moderate to wide open throttle and the noise is coming from the throttle body, it does not sound like a leak in the seal.

so frustrated

i used to own an s2000 which did the same thing when i installed my injen cai...i think it's normal, as long as everything's tight and nothing's leaking. any injen cai owners out there?

Is the squealing a whistling sound? Is it coming from the filter area? Does it come on only during certain rpms (ie. 3000-3500)? If so, its normal with any CAI. If not, retighten all the hoses. You have a leak somewhere.

its normal..

it sounds normal to me..the squealing whistling sound comes from your intake arm diameter being larger than your throttle body diameter..it shouldn't be a problem..i think it sounds nice actually..

it's def not coming from the filter area, it's coming from the throttle body. it comes on when i stomp on the pedal or drive hard...i had the hood open and was able to determine where the sound was coming from.

it kinda sounds like a pressure valve being released when i hit the gas, but if i stay on it i hear the sqealing.

i guess i need to hear someone elses to determine if mine is normal

Thanks for all the input guys, really appreciate it

maybe i can try and get a sound bite to determine if its normal

hey i have an 03 g35 with the injen intake and mine makes a squeeling noise when im half way inthe throttle but when im idling or full throttle i dont get a squeel i also have checked all my hoses and they seem to be fine. i dont think you have a prob. because mine has driven excellent and no problems since the intake was installed about 5000 miles ago

I have the same thing with the Stillen and Z tube. Although I didnt have it when I had the Injen. Sounds similiar to that of a turbo spooling...

That doesn't sound at all normal to me. Sure WOT makes the engine louder but mine doesn't sound like that.
