How do you unplug the battery?
Yea, yea, i know stupid question, but i'm getting ready for my coupe this week- want to be fully versed on how to stick it to the 'learning algorithm', hehe
so basically all i'm asking is a) how do you unplug battery (i'm completely car stupid) b) is there any risk to unplugging the battery (i.e., battery acid splashing at you)?

Re: How do you unplug the battery?
Not a stupid question at all. You should give the utmost respect to your battery.
All you do is with a 10mm wrench carefully loosen the clamp nut on the negative terminal (-) a few turns and break it loose to lift it off the negative post. Tuck it down on the side of the batt. out of the way where it won't move......Reverse procedure after 12 full hrs.... When you reinstall the neg. terminal onto the neg. post make sure it seats all the way down then tighten the locking nut to about (only) 10 ft. lbs.---finger tight then a fraction more with the wrench.
Good luck with the new Coupe. Should be in soon right?

Re: How do you unplug the battery?
Yes, always unhook the negative terminal first. Modern autos run negative ground (the frame is connected to negative). So, if you hook a wrench to the positive terminal and slip, and contact the frame, you'll create a nice spark - not good. If you hook a wrench to the negative terminal and bump the frame, nothing happens.

Re: How do you unplug the battery?
I posted this in another thread, but here goes...
I think what you guys are trying to do is reset the ECU so that it will "forget" its learned settings. This is something that I do regularly on my S2000. The S2K will learn cerain fuel trim settings and retard timing based on certain conditions. IE: outside air temp. When car retards timing you lose power. People on the S2K forums discovered a fuse labelled "backup". This fuse resets the ECU every time you start your car making it forget its learned setting and allowing for any old timing settings to be dropped. There is a small concerned about not being able to store OBD-II codes for diagnostics, but I am not going to get into OBD-II issues on this thread. There are many S2000 owners who drive without this fuse in to insure maximum performace (or loss of).
My point is if there is a similar fuse in the G35C you could reset your ECU without having to pull the battery. This would remove the PIA procedure of resetting your radio etc...
I hope this helps...
