I think most people will agree with me that this site sounds like broken record when it comes to people asking questions about what kinds of gains to expect from mods. Things like heresay, he said she said, butt dynos, "I heard", etc seem to be the gauge by which gains from mods are measured. Rarely do we ever have a real before and after dyno. Heresay results in debates that often turn into drawn out threads that go basically nowhere. Two days later the same question is asked again and the cycle starts over. I would think that most people want to know if a mod REALLY does work and that there is proof it actually makes gains or maybe even losses. I think a dyno thread could serve as a great reference for directing people to legitment information regarding a mod.

What I'm suggesting is the following, people simply post links from this site and other G/Z related sites that have legitment dyno plots (not from vendors) from the many mods people buy (intakes, y-pipes, test pipes, headers, plenum mods, etc). There's no need to post opinion. All it would say is something like "Crawford Headers 350Z - 7whp/8wtq gain" and then the link. That's all. The reader decides. I think this could serve as a great reference and answer the tons of questions people have.

A great idea! Why don't we start wth your car's dyno showing before and after results that proves the Stillen CAI doesn't work.

 

I agree Earl. Since we all know Dynos have been in the magazine Sport Z before and after dynos 100's of them on all the intakes, exhausts, and other types of mods by professionals and by controlled conditions.

 

Unfortunately even before / after dynos aren't always good indicators for mods of relatively small gains or losses... now the average of 10 before at different times / average of 10 after at different times is getting somewhere.

 

What is a small gain to you? We find properly controlled dyno pulls are very good indicators of a mods effect on performance.

 

To me small gains are a couple hp. I consider these easily within error on dynos from different days or even just different engine temperatures.

 

Not when the engine temperature is controlled on the same day.

 

My god. Even when someone ONLY asks for dynos, no one provides them. Good lord.

 

It's simple. It's been posted in the past. Plus no one wants to waste there time posting it for him.

 

It's funny. THAT is exactly the issue. Post them up then for everyone to see. Apparently only YOU and Earl seem to know where these dyno sheets from fairyland exist. Please cast your magical spell for all of us to see.

If you two continue to make a mess out of this thread, I will erase it and start it again. If you continue to do the same thing in the next thread I will report you to Admin. Save the drama and opinion for another thread.

All that should be posted is links and dynos plots for mods.

I will add more links once I get settled from my move.
