Jet Chips ECU upgrade

Saw it for $400 or so, but no info on that site on what it gives you as far as performance. Anyone know anything about it?

JET Chips = PURE CRAP!!

Stay away from them unless you really like ruining your engine. Think of it as, wow I got more HP cuz I removed the speed limiter.

- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-

I called them the other day and they said you would get 16-19 extra hp out of it for $499 for a computer reprogramming. You take out your computer and send it to them. I don't know too much about messing with the computer so I am going to hold off on everything until I get my facts straight. But would this option sound like a sensible thing to do?

no, their claims are pretty off. Very possibly, you won't even get any gains at all.

Re: Jet Chips ECU upgrade

Jet will do pretty much what all others in the ECU reprogramming field do - they tap into your fuel and spark curve and lengthen each point. The software, which can be charted and plotted looks similar to that of a spreadsheet, By lengthening the injection pulse, and at the same time revamping the timing, allows your engine to produce more HP. At this time, you can also access the top speed limiter and "remove" it, by actually setting it to a much higher spec than the factory.

So in a sense, is Jet crap - no. Is Jet the best, I wouldn't say that either, but what they do is not any diferent than what anyone else does. It's a test and tune process.

The company that spends the most time with each car actually on the dyno while trying all sorts of curves and plots, well thats the company to go with.... but now how will you know?

Re: Jet Chips ECU upgrade

Thanks a lot for the info. I am too much of a noob to all of this. And I don't seem to hear anything good about Jet other than on their own website. I'll take my time and keep reading what you guys have to say on ECUs though.
