Even though the weather is getting more and more chilly, I was wondering if anyone has the same problems as I do. There is warm air coming out of the vents even when I put the auto climate controls to the lowest degrees with A/C OFF. In the summer/spring time, I would have to turn off the controls OFF and just open the windows. If I didn't do that, warm air would enter the cabin and my knees area would feel very warm. Does this mean that the engine heat is entering into the cabin and that the firewall SUCKS? I was told by the dealer to hit the "recycle air" button, but I didn't think it helped much. Any thoughts.

I think I know what you mean, and noticed the same thing. The outside air should be about 73 degrees, according to the temp gauge, but the air coming in feels much warmer. I have the A/C off, and the fan on, with it set to bring in air from outside, and the temp set to 63. Still, the air feels quite a bit warmer then the outside air. I wonder if it's somehow being heated.

Come on! There is a fix for this in the DIY section. Thought you
new about it. I just performed this fix yesterday. Bought some
clear silicone caulk from Home Depot and sealed the battery
and break booster compartments. The air is no longer warm,
but it isn't as cool as the outside air temp is right now in
Houston. So I would say that the fix works about 80%
LOL

I have the same problem. the cabin is always stuffy and I always have to run the AC. I complained about it to the service rep, but he rubbed it off and didn't say anything.

What an inconvenience. I'm trading in this lemon! J/K. It would be nice to get air out of our vents that is the same temp as outside though. I can't stand the stuffiness. It feels like 85 degrees inside when outside it's 72 degrees. Every other car I know doesn't have this problem. Even w/ the DIY fix, it's only 80% like the other guy said.

 

I suggest anyone trying this to go to their LFS (Live Fish Supplier) and buy Silicone Glue for fish tanks. (Pet shops have it too). It's fish save (which means if you breath it in it's non toxic) it's also non flamable and it can be taken off (only if you tried not by normal use) if you ever were to mess up.

I also wanted to comment on one thing. For those of you with humid air coming out, that's just part of the condensation from turning off teh AC. Turn off the AC and turn the fan to max for abuot 5 mintues and it'll blow out all the humidity. The air will still be warm unless you do the fix, but at least it wont' be stuffy.

Why would you want to turn off the A/C? This isn't a little 2L I4 engine. It doesn't affect mileage or power noticeably in daily driving. It dehumidifies the air and helps the heater defrost the windows faster. Plus, if you don't run your A/C system for a long time, it may break -- the system needs to be excersized so that it's parts stay lubricated.

That happened to me too...the very first time I turned the AC off while driving. Well it never happens again. What I did is...noticed when u turn the AC off it automatically switch to the button which allows outside air to come in. I simply switch it back to the inside air circulation...notice what! No air should be coming out of the AC...problem solved.

Ryoken: It's not so much the mileage factor, it's just that I don't really like the AC air compared to the cool fresh air outside. Unless of course it's like 95+F outside , then it's a whole new ball game.

While were on the subject, has anyone noticed that the the Dual climate control is really functional? If i put the driver's side on say 65F and the passenger's side on say like 85F (just an example here) that it doesn't really vary the fan speed or ambient fan temp.? Useless in my book. I have this on my list to fix for the dealer.

There is only one blower, all it does is change the temperature from one side to the next. So if the AC is on your side, it just puts a blockade between the 2 sides and applies heat to the AC'd air on your side.

Have you noticed that you cannot run the "recycle" air without the A/C being on? When i switch to recycled air (stinky truck up ahead, tar being laid, whatever), the a/c will always be on. I have adjusted the temp so that the required cabin temp is higher than the outside air, as well at the same temp and cooler.....the a/c will turn on.

if I have it on outside air - no A/C, and the switch to recycle, the a/c turns on. I dislike being forced to run my A/C when on recycle. Anybody else experience this?
