HP gain question for a newbie....

I've done wheel and suspension mods and would like to do a few mods to increase the hp, whether it's engine, intake, exhaust etc? BTW, I have an 06 coupe.

Sorry for the newbie question. I've read the review section of the forum and did a general search on mods to increase hp but I'm still not clear on what works well.

From my research cai doesn't help to increase hp, am I right in assuming this? I'm asking for suggestion as to what would be the best value mod for increasing hp that won't effect my warranty. I definitely do not want to go to FI. I've read conflicting post about plenum spacers.

I'm not looking for a tremendous increase but a mod or two that would enhance the performance at a reasonable cost.

Thanks for helping out a newbie........

I agree. IMO, these should be those first two mods:

1. MREV from Motordyne
2. Z-tube and drop-in filter

Those will give a little punch and add some good induction growl to go along with the OEM exhaust.

Next, you should consider one or more of the following: cats, headers, exhaust. That's about the extent of NA power mods before getting really pricey.

I'm pretty happy with my Z-tube/filter, MREV, Headers, Cats, ECU combo... ...but I would like to top it off with heads and internals at some point.

Motordyne has positive reviews about their MREV2 and spacers. I have both but haven't installed. Will soon once my headers are back. I will post a review with dynos

Hey Ron,

Thanks for the info that really helps. BTW, I didn't mention it but it's in my sig that I have a non-revup engine. So, with that additional info the MREV and Z-tube would be the way to go? Also, would I get the MREV 2 only and no spacer? Those mods that you suggest would they effect my warranty?

Thanks again, it's much appreciated.

Red,

I'd be interested to hear how things work out and what your impressions are before and after the install.

Hope everything works out to your satisfaction.

mark - I picked up the MREV+ when it was first released for the RevUp only, so I haven't really followed which applications are tied to the newer versions. But the spacer was part of my kit, along with the modified lower plenum from the 260HP motor.
