plenum or kinetix ssv?

i have an 03 6mt..whats my best bet for performance gain..i have no mods on the engine right now..i can get an iso-thermal md spacer for about $300 but my friend crashed his turbo G and is willing to sell me his kinetix ssv for $300...what should i do?some have said the ssv will crap out on my car if it doesnt have a turbo setup on it? is that really the case?will i notice no performance gain if minimal on the car?is the spacer the way to go?i know either one will give me a deeper sound..but performancewise what should i be looking at..i will all also be getting the ztube/popcharger combo..all opinions welcome..seems like searching thru the threads the opinions are split..but those are older posts wonder if months later opions have changed?

I just read a thread a couple days back where the guy did dyno runs with the SSV, a plenum, etc. And from what it showed is you actually lose power with the SSV - I think there was a slight gain with the plenum. He was NA, not FI.

ssv is good if you are f/i

if not, go with the plenum

Buy a crawford plenum and high flow cats. Those mods will get you at least 10 horsepower on the dyno.

Yea the SSV loses power without F/I... But for $300 i'd get it and save it when u can get F/I

I have the SSV - I had it when I was NA and now that I'm FI - also have had the MD spacer and ISO thermal, etc.

The SSV will very much rob you of low end torque = but give you great gains in the top end - which is why it's best suited for FI - because you get so much more torque in the setups and need the top end help.

I am currently going to play with reverting back to the plenum/spacer to see what differences there are for FI.

Bottom line though - the MD spacer and ISO thermal mod is best for top end and low end torque savings and overall performance. SSV is designed for high end builds, engine mods, and likely FI for top end gains.
