Sudden power loss and weirdness
I've had my 06MT for about 5 months now (slightly over 6k miles), and yesterday, I noticed that my engine is behaving differently. It doesn't make any weird noises, but it feels like there's a lot of lost power. The car feels like it's screaming at only 4000RPM.
The biggest thing that led me to believe something was off was that when I tried to rev-match my downshift, I noticed that the same punch in the gas resulted in a very weak rev. In order to produce the same level of revving as I previously did, I have to press the gas quite hard. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this? I have an appointment with the dealer on Friday, but I want to know if I should stop driving my car around in the meantime.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.
My friend thought it was the clutch too, but when I'm trying to do the rev-match, I have the clutch pressed all the way down. It's all the engine with no load, and it still seems have problems revving.

Try checking your air filter and make sure it's good and clean, make sure nothing it blocking the air intake ports, like a piece of plastic or something that could have come up from the road.
Look at your tailpipes too...maybe someone is messing with you and something is stuck up in there? Maybe an animal found warm refuge and got caught...
Sorry - I'm trying as best as I can
Also - have you checked your oil level lately?
Rick
I haven't checked the intake/exhaust yet. That would be weird if something were stuck inside them.
I'll check that when I can. I also thought about checking my oil levels. I'll also do that when I get home. I did get my oil changed around 3k miles, so I didn't expect there to be oil issues. Still, I will check to make sure.
I use 91 octane gas (or whatever premium is rated at) from 76. The powerloss seems to be most apparent in the 3k-4k RPM band, although I've been afraid to take it above 4k since the car feels very off when it gets to that point.

Well, I checked the oil level and the intake/exhaust. They all look good to me. I don't really know much about the mechanics of cars though. I'm taking my car in on Friday, so I'll see what the prob is and let you guys know, in case anyone else runs into the same problem.
