how much do the stock seats weigh
Im thinking of throwing in raceing seats for the spring and summer as I wont use the heated seats but if its not that great of a weight saver I think ill just pass. How much weight do you think I could save by swaping out the stock electric heated seats for raceing seats?

I'm sure theres more than 15 lbs for the drivers seat and another 10 for the passenger seat. This is just a guess, but there are 3 motors on the drivers seat. Also heaters and bracketry. It would definately be worth it.
I'm buying new seats soon. I'm 6'3+ with a sunroof. I want a lower seat with the weight savings benefit. Also my brother is building a cobra kit car and is willing to buy me racing seats in exchange for my stockies. He says without the headrests that they are perfect height and width.

I thought they weight at least 30~40 each.
15lb is pretty light for a non-reclinable racing seats

60-70 lbs is about right... No its NOT illegal to take out the side airbags... however you will lose all your airbags because it is in a series if you unplug one they all disarm.
I put Sparco Milano's in and I love them although the driver seat is low and the passanger is a lot higher... if you used Bride mounts I think you can adjust the height.

if you take the seats out and the airbags will the Airbag light come on? Would there be a way to turn it off or is it worth it at all?
Yes the airbag light will turn on, you could probably measure resistance on the factory airbag unit then install a resistor on the chassis side of the harness to trick it into thinking it's still there.
Or put a piece of black electrical tape over the airbag light
EDIT: Personally I think people should leave factory SRS equipment intact on a street car, if it was a gutted/caged track car that's different but anything that is on public roadways should have all it's airbags. You can't control some idiot running a red light and t-boning the fu<k out of you, those airbags are there to protect you since you don't wear crash gear in a street car.
Track cars you're wearing a helmet and neck support or HANS, with a cage and harness, it's MUCH safer than a street car so you don't need the SRS equipment.
