Do i need to tune?

I have an 05 6mt....z-tube, stock intake, Crawford HFC...

by febuary i plan on having JWT/Stillen intake, HKS and Mrev and 5/16 spacer, correct me if that spacer/mrev isnt the correct combo...

will i need to tune the car after having all those installed? and will i run into problems if i put on the mrev/spacer with an exhaust, intake and HFC?

Problems, no... I dont think so...

Tune, YES... You probably dont "have to" get it tuned but to get the most out of your mods and the car I am a big believer in tuning!

thanks for clearing that up, i read somewhere exhaust, HFC, Mrev + spacer on a rev-up causes the engine to run lean and thus blowing the engine/causeing problems.

can someone give me insight on tuneing? are there cheap alternatives to getting a completely new A/F system? chances are, in reality, that i wont be tuning....im just not looking for monster performance gains off bolt on's, probably end up reseting the ECU, but id like to know more about tuneing options.

Why would you not want to tune it? You can learn alot of info from the tune, not to mention your dyno numbers. You will know what your mods help you put down to the ground.

A tune is not all that expensive and it will increase your cars reliability and fuel economy. It will aslo point out any problems your motor might have lingering.

Tuning is always a good idea.

how exactly do i go about tuning? i was told i had to send in the ecu to have it done....which i dont udnerstand cause if they dont have dyno sheet's or the car how are they going to...."tune" it.

All i really planned on doing if there was no problems with the car running lean with those mods, was dyno'ing it to see what im putting out.

Wait a couple of months and there will be a new program out that will plug right into your ECU and get tuned. I cant remember the name of it but my tuner was telling me about it last week. I am not a believer in sending my ECU anywhere to get it worked on, especially after what I heard happen to Sentry65 on my350z.com. They sent him back the wrong ECU that was from another car altogether...

My mods are only CAI + EXHAUST! (And soon headers)....
Would you have the car tuned??

For just a CAI + Exhaust there is no real need for a tune. The ECU will compensate for those mods nicely... Once you add the headers you might start to run a little lean though.
