Your test results are opposite of mine. Did you also go to The Clueless One's school of advanced heat transfer?

My engine cover has been sitting in my basement for about two years now.

Yes, it's OK. It's main purpose is noise suppression.

Wow, great reply...

Plenty of people have done tests showing no increase in engine heat soak with the cover on....so what makes your majestic tests so wonderful?

through my experience, with the cover on, my upper plenum is hotter to the touch than without, especially after a 2 hour highway drive..... so cover has been off except for when i need to take it to dealer...

The engine cover traps heat under there for increasing the intake temps. I along with many people have track tested it with sensors and data logging. Just look on the motodyne site or ask Tony he will give you proof.

I had this same question myself a few months ago. After conversing with a few of my friends I decided to pull my cover off and have had no negative side effects so far. I say take it off

Engine cover.............gone!

After installing my MotorDyne 1/2" space I didn't
have a choice. So....I found a MF 350Z cover on
line, cut to fit my plem and had it painted my cars
color....Twilight Blue. It only covers the front 1/3
of my plem so I don't have issues with heat........
just looks cool!

I've done datalogging with and without the cover and saw no measurable difference. When the intake manifold heat soaks, it doesn't matter what's on top of it. The FM chassis engine compartment is a tight fit and the engine heat soaks quickly because of the low hood, close shock towers, and underbody tray. That plastic cover isn't going to trap any more heat than the hood will. If anything, the alum hood may radiate more heat back onto the manifold than the plastic cover.
