BS... they'll tell you anything to get you on their side. I've used full syn oil since my first oil change at 2000 miles. I have 28000 miles on my car now and its never lost/eaten a drop of oil.

I've read on here that switching to synthetic after 10k mi is good. I switched at 15k and noticed a good increase in gas mileage. I got mine done at the dealership also.

Most people won't recomend it until you get at least 10K miles on the clock.

Alot of high end cars come with full synth in it already! There are many opinions out there and most are based on hearsay. Do the research on your own and form your opinion. I'm a big fan of Amsoil...use it in car and bike...

service manager (20 years experience with nissan) states that the vq does not seat until over 10k and that full syth. is so slippery that it does not allow proper seating if put in too early.

i geuss i got lucky then (knock on wood)

all late model cars dont leave the lot without the piston rings being seated, there have been huge debates on this site and many others about whether or not you can use full syn early and about the break in process. It's all personal preference.

me personally, I've driven the car like i stole it after the first 500 miles and switched to full syn oil after 2000 miles. Runs like a champ and hasn't had any problems yet.

10K miles seems like an awful long 'break in' period to allow the rings to seal. I switched after 2000 miles or so on my new motor. Of course my aftermarket rings are different then the thin, weak, OEM rings!

i went to syntec blend at 1500, then fully changed over to full synthetic at 4000. I've noticed little loss in oil about .5 qt for 2000 miles, but I drive it hard.

but isnt that the point of full-synthetic? so that it wouldnt burn? i mean it's going to burn (very little), but not as much as regular oil would. that's one of the reasons why we would have to change oil (having full syn) every 4,750 miles+. whereas regular oil we would have to change it every 3,000 miles.
