Set up for car

Alright guys, I want to do a set up for my car. I need the most advices I can get before I purchase all/any of these.

Car: 04 AT G35 Coupe

What I am buying/considering:

HKS Hi-Dual or Fast Intentions w/ 300 cell metallic cats
DC Headers
5/16 or 1/2 spacer
AEM or Injen CAI (or Z-tube + JWT Popcharger... whats the difference? Please explain to me so I can consider)
NGK Iridium/Platinum Spark Plug
Grounding Gear
Nology Spark Plug Wires

So what else should I install/add/get/etc.? Should I reflash my ECU? Should I get plenums?? Can you guys lead me in the right direction. Don't leave anything out! Any advices are great!

You may want to check under the hood before you continue any further. There are no spark plug wires. You have direct ignition with coilpacks.

i would get the mrev2+ with the 5/16 spacers. It gives an average of +10hp/tq under the pw curve and I would ditch the aem or injen cold intake. Get a popcharger for around 100 or a stillen intake. The aem and injen are bascially the same but u will lose more low en pw due it being a cold air intake (instead of a short one).

If u have the cash, either get a ecu reflash by aam or technosquare (600) and that should help bring your n/a pw to around 245-255whp. Don't expect too much out of NA unless u go with cams/headwork/mt6 swap. Our autos just dont like the big pw.

there is no such thing as an mrev2+ unless they just came out with it and i dont know about it...

keep in mind that a tune is highly suggested if you get the mrev2 + 5/16" combo or you will probably run lean

OK, here's my 2 cents. I hope it's helpful.

If you intend to stay NA and don't have any desire to go FI:

-JWT pop charger w/ a Z Tube (because this combination has shown the biggest horsepower gain at the wheels over any other CAI setup)

-Motordyne's 5/16 spacer, but not the MREV lower collecter, since your automatic doesn't have the Rev-Up motor. I don't think you need the MREV because it is supposed to address power loss in the lower & midrange in the Rev-Up moter versus the older non Rev-Up moter.

-Grounding wires are a safe & inexpensive mod. I've been told that all the brands out there available for the G35 are about the same.

-Headers (I haven't heard anything about DC versus another brand.)

-Random Technologies cats, because I think they flow more than the ones you are considering. Also, they are metallic, in case you decide to go turbo later.

-A good true dual exhaust. I like the 2.5" APS exhaust or the Stillen.

-AND MOST IMPORTANTLY... get a Technosquare ECU upgrade, so you can get the most out of these mods! The feedback function on the factory ECU can actually cause power loss with some intake & exhaust upgrades. Be sure to tell Tadashi about all of your upgrades, because he has different flashes for different mods. If you're not too far away from Torrance, CA it is worth it to go there in person and have them dyno the car before and after the ECU flash. I'm glad I did!

IF you still have thoughts of going FI someday, specifically twin turbo :

-Don't do headers, because you'll have to remove them later. Keep that money to save up for the TT.

-You might want to hold off on exhaust until you go TT. With TT, a 3" exhaust setup would be better.

if you suggest he technosquare reflash and assuming he gets one then he should get the mrev2 as well...

stick with the stillen intake with a dry filter

wait for fast intentions headers

get the fast intentions metallics cats

and stick with gord's grounding gear...forget the rest (sunauto, nismo, stillen, etc)

There is no such thing as "advices" but my advice is to find an HKS exhaust for $800 and let me know where to get it

Good luck with the mods, please post your progress!
