ADVICE PLEASE! First Technical Mod??
ADVICE PLEASE! First Technical Mod??
I'd like to make my first performance mod to my coupe, but i am VERY new to that side of things. I've been reading up on here trying to see what seems best, but what would you all advise?
I am looking to spend around $1,000 total (this includes possible installation if i might need that - i have a very busy schedule and am not usually around enough to TRY and install something myself!)
I was looking at CAI's or ECU's for my first mod. Which is a better idea for my first try?
And also, what is the difference between the Performance Plenum that strictly Z is selling and a Nismo or Injen CAI?? Is that a totally different part or just a different name? (Sorry, like i said, i am new to all of this stuff!!!)
Thanks alot!

Re: ADVICE PLEASE! First Technical Mod??
ok the pelenum is ur acual intake manifold well the top part. The problem with our cars is that the frist and second clyenders are getting choke cuz of a crapy desighn. the Plenum raise the front part thus making the car breath easyer. The CAI or cold air intake is the part that is connected to the Plenum. THis part is were the air gets sucked into the engine. IF u want the most gains get the Plenum. Dont bother with the ECU untill u have done several modifications
Good luck and let us know what u deciede to do

Re: ADVICE PLEASE! First Technical Mod??
Go for a Nismo, Injen, or K&N CAI intake and either Borla Exhaust or Crawford Plenum.
The Intake and plenum are relatively easy instals and can be done by yourself in your own garage with common tools.
The Borla True Dual Exhaust is my fave but is about the same price as the Crawford Plenum.
To do all 3 you'll need about a little more dough.
Leave the ECU until you've got all your other mods done, then you can tailor the ECU to your mods.
Yuichi at StrictlyZ will treat you right on whatever you need, make recommendations if you want, and stand behind whatever you buy with good warranties.

Because you the coupe, and you have a limited budget, I would probabably go for the Z-tube and K&N drop in filter, the Crawford plenum and the teh ECU tailored to the plenum. I think this would give the most bang for your buck! If you had the sedan, I would tell you to scrap the exhaust first, as it is very inefficient. But that's not the case with the coupe.
