Rough Idle
Rough Idle
Hey guys i need some help on this one. This is what i have done to my car. Injen cold air, borla headers, fijustio y pipe, b&b triflo exhaust, and stillen ground wires. Now i had a rough idle before the ground wires were put in and after i put them in the rough idle went away. I was driving home last night and my service engine soon light came on. This is the frist time it has ever came on since i owned the car. I have 10,000 miles on it. Now i went home and reset my computer by disconnecting the battery. Now the light is off which is a good thing. Now i was sitting in my car waiting for class to begin and i fell a very roguh idle when the car has been sitting in a sport running for a while. Now the service light is NOT on. but the idle is really bad, it sounds like a bent valve but i have an automatice. Now it maybe could be that i put 91 octane in by accident when ive been using 94 since i bought the car. I dunno anyone else have a rough idle in there G or am i just the only one

Re: Rough Idle
Check all your electrical connections including O2 sensors on the exhausts, and MAF connection at the CAI, and all the grounding wire connections.
A air leak will cause a rough idle too, and so will a bad tank of gas.
Something must have caused the Check Engine Light to come on and will prolly come back.
If there's nothing wrong that you can see, you'll have to scan the ECU for a trouble code to find out where the problem is.
A scan tool is a good investment, or you'll have to see the dealer. Good luck

Re: Rough Idle
It's interesting that your rough idle went away after the ground wire install. BUT, it's never a good idea to do some mods to an engine that isn't running right in the first place. Some of the problems can even be exacerbated! You should have the dealer fix the problem first while still under warranty.

Re: Rough Idle
I went to the delaer today and they hooked it up to the computer and they said my 02 sensors are fried cause of my borls headers and the said they will fix it for me no charge cause im boys with them an i hook them up. The 02 sensor was reading 123, and 116 thas to high the tech said it should read between 106 and 110 somwhere aorund there but they sia dthey will fix it. Also they mentioned that they were going to replace my mass air sensor as well. I dunno just better run right again i hope thanx guys for your help
Re: Rough Idle
It's great that they're fixing it for you despite their claim it was the Borlas that caused the problem. Hopefully that cures the problems.
