Results of my oil consumption test.

Well..guys after 4 trips to the dealership every thousand miles which makes it a total of 4 thousand miles from start to finish of the oil consumption test. The dealership have confirmed that my engine is consuming oil and I will be getting my engine replaced. I will be dropping my car off to be repaired a couple of weeks into march. For those who had their motor replaced because of this..how long does it take to get your car back and is everything fine with the car now?

The manual tells you to change the oil at 3.750 miles or 90 days and to maintain a full oil level in between! Add oil as necessary.

Nissan usually considers less than 1 quart per 1,000 miles to be at the extreme end of acceptability. Adding 3 quarts between changes might be extreme.

Figure about 3 days. My car took about that long. I was losing nearly 2 quarts every 1200 kms. Car has been sitting now for most of the winter after the engine replacement so I don't know what it will be doing for consumption now, hopefully a **** hair of loss every oil change. I will give my results when I get driving again. If it burns oil again they can have the car back. My bro runs a 04 cobra with a ported blower, full exhaust, yada yada and makes a bit over 510rwhp. He doesn't go through any oil and drive the car pretty damn hard and it has 69,000 kms on it.

Always seemed strange that people don't mind filling up with gasoline but adding oil seems alien..................we burn 80 quarts of gas and worry about a half a quart of oil.

A Nascar engine burns 10 quarts in 500 miles.

Thats true but running out of gas isnt nearly as bad as running out of oil.
