Definitely more smooth, and easier acceleration from like 50 to 65, less throttle needed. I'm not seeing a wonder-change like some people report, but I'm also hoping my fuel efficiency will get better.

Yep...a lot smoother is right. Didnt think a little spark plug change might make a difference.

I knew it could, I put them in my racebike after only like 4000 miles and the engine was much "snappier"... I just never thought of changing them out in all honesty...

At 40K your spark plugs are fine. They are good for about 80K-90K miles, then they just need changed. The car already comes stock with platinum tipped plugs so for iridium plugs, you might want to just replaced them with the NGK platinum tipped plugs, they are just as good if not better (that was quoted from a NGK rep).
