My car just hit 49k and some change, and my check engine light came on last night. I was crusin around town with my chick, and I wasnt running the car hard at all, but it came on.

I didnt know if there was an easy way to find out what the engine code is for. I hate to take it to the dealership and pay their prices to find out its something I could easily fix myself.

So, How do you check/read the code? How do you clear the code to see if it comes back?

 

go to autozone, they do it for free. you can pull the codes, but they prolly couldn't tell you what the code means though.

 

+1. Have you had the normal tune-ups and stuff done. Could be a bad O2 sensor taht finally needs to be changed.

 

+1 - One of my O2 sensors went at around 60K.

 

It's giving you a hint that it's time for you to get the 07/coupe j/k. Yup definetly take it to your local autozone & have them pull the codes.
