Question about RPMs
Question about RPMs
Hey guys, I recently noticed when i shift gears my RPM rises a lil before going down. Is this normal? If not is it because of my mods? Any info is appreciated. thanks guys...
I think it might be the clutch... mine started doing that...
I'd shift give it a lil gas.. and it would rev up.. or spike.. a lil.. then go down and rev up normally through the powerband.. It slowly got worse and worse.. till I had to replace it>>> all heavy duty now!

If he's AT, then I'm assuming its the lag in between shifts.
If he's MT, then I'm assuming he's either not laying off the gas before disengaging the clutch.
It could be normal, but I would have to see it to say so.

Yeah thats what i think is happening to me...So did you change your clutch?
Thats normal. Think about it. if you are shifting quickly, you don't want the rpms to drop before you put it into the next gear. You want the rpms to be consistent to give you a seamless shift...ie, no head jerking. If the rpm's dropped down immediatly after pressing the clutch, when you put it into gear, and let the clutch back out, the rpms would raise back up, giving you that downshifting at higher speeds feeling. Not to comfortable...
Ok i figured out it was the way i shift...but now i have another problem, When i slow down from high speeds say 60 mph and take it out of gear my rpms drop to below 250 almost to 0 then lifts back up right away...is this normal as well?
Revs after taking foot off gas and engaging clutch to change gear = normal
Revs after engaging gear and giving it gas = slipping clutch
As for the rpm drop at high speed, I haven't really paid attention to that in mine, but I'd say if it bounces back quickly then there's probably nothing wrong...
