rattle/clunking in the engine bay?

is this happening to anyone?

this has been happening to me lately. i havent really got the time to actually post my problem. i've done searching about it, but i think i have a different kind of rattle.

while i'm shifting from 1st to 2nd i would hear a clunk in the transmission (sometimes i get smooth shifts, sometiimes i get clunks). i would hear it after releasing the clutch from 1st to 2nd. again with 2nd to 3rd, releasing the clutch, i hear a clunking noise. from 3rd to 4th and so on, it's all good in the hood. does this mean that my transmission is giving up?

also, my friend said that my clutch was really spongy. he said it was really soft, compared to a 350z. he said the 350z's clutch are a lot stiffer than my g35. help me on this one. thanks

I get the same thing!!!!

But to me it sounds like it's coming not from the engine bay, but further back, like where the tranny is.

edit: i didnt mean to say the sound was coming from the engine bay, but more like the transmission area.

i also get rattles when shutting off the engine. what i figured out to stop the rattle was to hold down the clutch while shutting it off. but in releasing the clutch, i hear that clunk noise. i was wondering if i'm low on tranny fluid or what?

also, about the 'soft' clutch, do you guys have that problem too?
