Thumbs up Interior Air Filter (In-Cabin Filter)

Just installed the Nissan branded activated-charcoal air cabin filter and it works great! No Smells!! Construction is superior to Gordgee's home-made charcoal/hepa air filters and price is slightly cheaper.
Sorry Gordon!!!! I still <3 you

I don't know, every time I get my air filter replaced the smells go away for two weeks then come right back. Annoying!

Glad it works for you at least

edit: Wait, I didn't realize this is an aftermarket filter your talking about, ill be curious to see if it continues working longer then the oem one...

No problem Rambo.

Your 1st Filter from April 2004 was an early production model. There were improvements made, even since mid 2005.

As a secondary product line to GroundingGear® Hyper-Ground Systems, I don't mind bowing to the competition. I still don't believe however, that the Infiniti Filter is actually HEPA rated, nor does it have the surface area of mine. I still <3 you too!

The filter isn't actually what causes the odour. It's the mold/mildew present and growing on the heat exchanger coils. When you run the A/C, moisture condenses on them resulting in the odour. If you let your fan run on high for a few minutes with the A/C off to dry off the coils prior to shutting off the car, most of the odour when you start up again won't be there.

What I recommend in my instruction set is:

After OEM filter removal, use a commercial A/C deodorizing spray or Lysol Neutra-Air Spray or similar disinfectant (Isopropyl Alcohol can also be used as an odourless spray) to deodorize the A/C system prior to new filter installation. With the fan on Hi, spray the air-box and into the ducting. Let fan run for 3 to 5 minutes with windows open to circulate the disinfectant / deodorizer to kill moulds and mildew.

I routinely use 99% isopropanol in one of those pump things that are sold in kitchen stores to spray cooking oil (I keep a new one just for this purpose) and spray it into the air-box. A commercial A/C conditioner works as well, but some find the smell to be objectionable. It should kill the mold/mildew in the heat exchanger and keep it odour free for a much longer period of time, and if the filter seals and filters adequately, outside spores won't have as much of a chance to re-deposit on the coils.
