Thumbs up Blue smoke on startup...

I've got an 03 g35, no mods except a K&N stock replacement filter...

My car has been sitting for 3 days, and when starting it up this morning to head to work i noticed a healthy puff of blue smoke and an oil smell.

I've never had this problem before, and i've not noticed any smoke before on startup. After about 15 seconds the smoke cleared up but the exhaust still smells like oil.

Before on startup i would have a heavy gas smell, which cleared itself up within a minute or so, but never this problem before...

Any ideas on what this could be? I've got 60k miles on my G and last oil change was less than 2k ago... all other service is up to date...

help would be much appreciated!

thanks in advance

Blue smoke means you're burning oil. Has this happened again after that one time?

I'm thinking it's just because your car has been sitting for a few days...

Never happened before, I just started it up this morning and no smoke. I did run it yesterday for a little while though...

Very strange, and yes it did smell like burning oil. Just wonder where the oil was coming from...

The car runs solid, I don't see any other signs that it's actually burning oil, oil level looks the same, etc...

Maybe it's just the pvc system?

Mine has done this a few times after sitting for a while. If you look inside the intake plenum, you will see that it sometimes has a bit of oil in there. I think it just accumulates in one spot after sitting for a while, then gets sucked in all at once after startup. Check your oil level and even pull the plugs if your really worried. But I wouldnt be concerned unless it starts doing it when its warmed up and/or under acceleration.

Blue smoke is really not a good sign but if your motor is burning oil more than likely it is from oil in the plenum. Go get it checked out.
