Lightbulb Osiris as Launch Control or two step rev limiter!

I went to the local 1/8 mile track last night and tonight to practice. The thing is, I was wondering if I could use the multi-map feature of Osiris as a two step rev limiter or some kind of launch control aid. Guess what? It works!

I'm able to hold the gas pedal down to the floor with the RPMs at a preset 3500rpm, and the only thing you have to worry about is let go of the cruise control set/coast button as soon as you let go of the clutch and the ECU will switch to the performance map or whatever map you selected before in a split second and off you go. This is good for consistent launches.

I don't know if Uprev had this in mind when they designed the multi-map feature, but this is an awesome feature I discovered by mistake. I'm into drag racing, so I find good use to this. I hope that those that bought Osiris, like this as much as I did.

Im sorry, but I seriously do not have a clue of what you are talking about.

Can you please elaborate?

It's not about Osiris, but rather this method you speak of

I think he starts in Valet mode and then switches to a power map. Valet maps have a 3500 RPM limiter.

I didn't think you could swap maps above a set RPM range... I thought it was 1600 RPM.

Why not just rev the motor to 3500 and let the clutch out?

Oh I see.

I agree with your last statement. I've never had an issue controlling my revs. I just aim and fire

Right. I'm in valet mode while staging with the performance map already selected but holding the button down. As soon as I'm moving or the clutch is out, I let go of it.
I can switch maps at any RPM, load or speed. It's not a problem. Plus I like the sound of a two step limiter.

I might have been thinking about switching maps in a UTEC. Anyway, since you're already doing it, it must work!

If using valet mode to launch your G works for you... do it!

It might be interesting to log one of his runs with Cipher and see exactly what is happening.

Cipher is a great tool and comes free with Osiris. A lot of people seem to forget about Cipher, but it's a great tool in its own right.

I didn't think about logging a run using this method. I'll see if I can do it later.

I'm not sure I'd ditch my UTEC just yet... especially one dyno-tuned specifically for your car.

The Osiris software does show promise, though.

Nope. Not that I can tell. It's a smooth transition. Yeah, the look on people faces when I do it, it's priceless.

Doesn't Osiris have a specific "launch control" map now?

Btw, you can go to thread tools --> subscribe to thread.
