6-Wire grounding kit installed

OK, just finished installing my 6-wire grounding kit. WHAT A DIFFERECE !
I must admit I was skeptic a bit before the install, and was thinking I'm just wasting money here.
Boy I was wrong. I could hear a noticeable difference right when I started the engine for the first time with the kit
installed. The engine came up to life immediately with no hesitation. The sounds was very assuring.
The next think I noticed was the smoothness in acceleration - the car seemed to take it with much more ease. There is a noticeable smoothness in accelerating all the way to the red line. The car feels more responsive and prompt.
Even when downshifting to slow down, the jerkiness is minimal now, if at all.
Here are some pictures I took of the final "product":

Re: 6-Wire grounding kit installed

I just installed a 6 wire kit a couple of days ago. (7th wire will wait until spring, when I get some jack stands)
I'm not too sure about the smoother starts or quicker shifts, but that's probably just due to my rather dull senses.
What I can tell so far is that my Fuel Economy monitor on the Nav seem to be much "sharper". By that I mean the MPG display seem to update with much greater frequency than it did before, with greater changes in MPG from each sampling interval (if there are changes such as going from city driving to highway), and the "miles to empty" display seemed to be more accurate. At the current pace I should also see better gas mileage.
While I can't say that I see a big and obvious difference with the grounding kit, I do think it's a great mod, as it does seem to shapen the car's electronic "reflexes". I'd be VERY happy if I indeed get better gas mileage out of this thing.

The install is not hard at all. If you know how to hold a wrench, and few other basic tools, and know how to use them, you won't have any problems. It took me an hour and a half. It could have taken me probably half the time if it wasn't so f$%cking cold outside (17F)....my hands were so numb, I could barely move them....

I bought the kit from here: http://www.z-xtreme.com/GroundingKit.htm
Great service and super fast shipping - I highly recommend.

If you have the 6MT, you don't need the 7-wire kit - the 7th wire is to ground the AUTOMATIC transmission.

Re: 6-Wire grounding kit installed

This was the easiest thing I've ever done.
a 10 mm socket and a sharp tool to punch through the rubber grommet to the battery.
took me 15 min. from opening the hood to closing it.

I got mine from gordgee, check under Technical and Modifications

Re: 6-Wire grounding kit installed

quick question....once this kit is installed, do you have to do a ECU reset as you do on other mods or installs?....I read many posts about this and I'm a little curious as to why infiniti did not install the grounding kit from the factory if the findings seem to be positive..anyway thanks in advance for any replys...2ol4this

Re: 6-Wire grounding kit installed

I'm sure a reset would be worth it. Maybe that's why I really don't notice a difference.

as for the improvments:
smoother idle - mine was smooth before, I don't notice a difference
better milage - I've only had one fill up since the install, so I'm not sure yet
starts easier - mine always starts easy, I don't notice a difference
brighter lights - like I could really tell without some kind of light meter
additional power - without a dyno there is no way anyone is going to be able to notice such a small improvement
smoother acceleration - I've always had smooth acceleration, I don't notice a difference
looks - I think it looks great

some dealerships will install them if they carry them. But I think Nissan is just too cheap to put them in from the factory. come to think of it, who does install them in the factory?

Re: 6-Wire grounding kit installed

I do the ECU reset as I did b4 my G/K install.
I doubt that the reset is necessary to make the kit effective.
As to why Nissan doesn't install these kits at the factory: It's probably more to do with 'bean counting' than anything else, and that the OEM grounding is 'sufficient'..

An ECU reste shouldn't be necessary. It sometimes helps with some cars (and all VWs) to go for a 10 or 15 minute 'spirited' drive with a few runs at WOT to help the ECU know it's getting a modified signal.

Re the factory question, check out the Hyper-Ground FAQ Thread

The empirical data collected so far suggests that your shifting with the 7-Wire kit should make the significant shifting benefits. Did you try it out with a basic 7-wire install prior to adding the extra wires? It's the only way to figure out if the other wires actually do anything.
