Exclamation Warranty issues with MREV2 and spacer?

2006 MT Coupe with MREV 2, 5/16 thermal spacer, and Pop-charger and Stillen Z-Tube only. No ECU reflash.
9700 miles

The car is going into the dealership next week for a rattling noise from either lower engine or tranny. Problem only during 2nd-4th gear 1800-4000 rpms.

I know they have to relate the problem to the mod. I'm just being extra carefull on covering my ***.

Can the dealer give me problems with the MREV 2 and spacer? Any one have problems as such? Warranty issues, etc? Thanks!

If you have the wherewithal to remove it yourself (i.e. you put it on yourself), I would remove it. It's not that hard. Don't give the bastards any excuse to blackball you. Once your in the computer system, your screwed at any dealership.

they won't be able to id the MREV2, and they might see the spacer if you don't have your engine cover on. it should have nothing to do with your tranny, but if you want to be safe, just take the spacer off.

Very true about the computer system. I worked at Mercedes-Benz for 4.5 years (Sales) and became good friends with the Service Advisors and Service Techs. We too had such system.

Type in the VIN and its entire service records, warranty claims, etc from any participating dealership would pop up.

Now I shall error on the safe side and remove both. I installed it myself and have all the stock parts.

Major Problem: I don't remember which bolts go where. Does anyone have a diagram of which stock bolts go back where?

Just remove the spacer and that's it. I doubt anyone will be able to tell the difference between the OEM lower plenum & the modified MREV2.

I would also remove the intake.

Like texasscout said, don't give them any reason to BS you about your mods. Even though you are legally protected by the "Mod Law", why go through the trouble of that?

This seems to be a tranny issue; your mods have nothing to do with the tranny. But just remove these parts to avoid all the dealer BS they can give you.

I will tackle this after I get home today.

? What would be the easiest way to temporarily remove the spacer? I was thinking unbolting the upper, slidding the spacer out, and then reinstalling the upper. Any excessive bolt issues?

Stock intake goes back on for now as well. Good call.

Like Izmir41500 said, maybe it's onlly a tranny issue. I'll post something after the visit.

Thanks y'all.

You need to use your stock shorter bolts - just don't overtighten or leave anything trapped in between (like the oil fill rubber ring) that would give you a vacuum leak and be a dead giveaway that you've been mucking around...

If they find the rattle to be from the modification, they will charge you for looking at it / for fixing it...

If they can actually tell you have the spacer installed with your stock engine cover on then you will be fine!
