Cosworth + TT build picture blog

Been posting this over on 6mt about an engine build for my 350gt over here in the UK and thought it may be of interest to anyone thinking of going FI (TT in particular) in the near future and it might give you a better understanding of how it all comes together.
The work is being done by Torque developments International who are one of the UK's leading power tuners.

Stage one of build

I get your point but its the same with any car. If people build cars and look at it in a financial way then not many cars, whatever make, would be built up to a respectable level. How many people ever get their money back that they spend upgrading their cars performance wise.
I look at it as a long term ambition i have had and a hobby i can share with my 16 year old son.

I just took UR initial post as a "different way" to skin a cat, as it were, regarding going FI, and that anyone wanting to follow UR path might be interested in what it would cost to follow that path. Yes, here, its, single turbo vs twin turbo vs supercharging and keeping in mind to keep the boost low relative to engine age and wear. Is it wise(no doubt) and or cost effective to replace engine parts most likely to be overstressed from going the FI route as a means to that end. When I see someone with TT or SC in their signature, pretty easy for me to find out the outlay to accomplish it...But, hey, thanks for the show and tell...PS, with the current exchange rate, €=$ most likely a killer deal for U...

Looks very nice so far.

I have one question. Why didn't you go with a true fuel return kit with larger rails while you were in there? The APS return kit is good for a basic install but you need more once you go up in boost.

Due to money restraints i will be waiting 'till the spring next year to have this done. It will be done along with Cosworth valve heads (10.5k revs), the new Cosworth plenum, Carbon Diff and other things. We plotted a build plan to begin with to see whether around 400bhp would suit my needs for an every day driver, if i require more power up around 500bhp then that is the route i will take and the built motor is in place to do this. At this moment in time i have every reason to believe 500-550 bhp is my goal and i want to achieve this by upgrading the parts on the car that need to be done.
Thanks for your suggestions and i will pass them onto TDI for comment. Gzire on 6mt suggested going with larger actuators/turbos which again we are looking at for the spring time.
Any other suggestions by anyone out there that has built up to 500 hp + please let me know anything else i might need to have done.
Thanks
Tom.

You don't need the other intake manifold or heads for 500whp. They are very nice but not needed. You should be able to take your built motor, APS kit with new actuators, a complete fuel return with 650+ injectors and get 500+whp.

Edit: I'm not trying to bash your project or be negative, just wanted to make sure you know that your goals can be had with less. It seems like with that kind of money into the heads you would sleeve the block and go for big numbers. Now your stock block is going to be the weak point and it starts to give at ~550whp.

I am planning my build for 500-550 wheel hp with the stock heads and cams and have been told by many of the top VQ builders it should be no problem. Right now my stock block was making over 425 and we turned it down for a street tune.
