so i shared this on another forum but thought i would here too.

I just bought my G last Friday Aug 17th used. The following Friday my car would barely run, and Infiniti roadside towed it to a dealer for me. They looked at the car and said it needs a new engine, but WONT do it under warranty because they say their records don't show proper maintanence from previous owners and that there are notes of oil sludge. They are essentially telling me the warranty is void and it will cost $10,000 to put a new one in.

Unreal. I don't know how I'm going to make this one, my dream car already stretched me thin and now it's the car from you know where.

I'm trying to get the dealer to take the car back, but there are no used car lemon laws in Illinois.

Wish this dumb consumer some luck, and if not for my sake for my wife's sake.

yeah i hope so. i thought i did this one all right which is what pisses me off so much. even the carfax was clean as a whistle.

 

I agree, the selling Dealer should have at least a 30 day guarantee.

 

AS IS is AS IS and no legal written records of 7500 mile oil changes do you in.

A junkyard takeout engine can probably be swapped for less than half the $10k.

Besure to have the tranny tested and fluid exchanged as this is another $5K.

Most states have a 3 day warranty process.

 

This is not a case of buyer beware, it is a case of buyer bendover. Too bad the thing didn't catch fire, at least your insurance could bail you out.

 

Go to the dealer and talk to the highest ranked employees and start complaining. If that does not work call the corporate. I can not imagine that happening to me. U have to do something man, don't give up. U dont know what those ***** will do to rip u off. If u show any kind of weakness or confusion they will milk u like there is no tomorrow.

Did you buy it from Infiniti or a private seller?

 

check and see if that dealershipif u bought it from a dealership) had a 30 day/3,000mile warranty
some places do,b ut thats normally disclosed up front

 

Don't you have a lemon law in your state? I'd talk to an attorney.
