Intake and Chip advice for a Newb.

Hey yall. I did a search looking for as much info on this type of stuff, but the fact that i know nothing about these silly imports i cant seem to understand half the stuff i read. im too well educated on my Superior charger that will blow the doors off of any one of you ladies that isnt on a bottle or a blower but i still love you.

**skip this if you dont care about my silly story about my pops and wanna know what i need to know ****

My pops drives an 07 g35 sport 4dr and has caught the mod bug and started askin me about what i thought of him modding his 35. it all started when he saw me in his drive way under my hood installing my new CAI(cold air intake, dono what you guys call it... an AFE stage 2 filter..) when he got home from work haha.

He doesnt wanna do any kind of forced induction or anything. hes over 50 now and not out to drag the strips or anything, but would love a lil more fun in his car. Hes been a car enthusiast all his life and used to modify his all porsche 911 targa.

*****
anyway. waht is the consensus on the best aftermarket intake and chip/tuner/whatever to give a relatively low cost but performance boost to the car?

i payed 250 for my CAI(on sale from 350) and 320(group buy instead of 430) for my chip. so i would THINK that these cars are similar.

i read a bit on here about hooking up to tuners in shops to get your car reprogrammed or some such, which isnt something done in chargers unless you have extensive Mods and certain handheld tuners too.

so is there a good product with a Canned Handheld tuner? that doesnt need a custom dyno tune?

thx ahead guys, and sorry for the long winded post, but imports get me all confused hehe.

Gee, what a great way to ask for advice... by insulting our "silly imports".

What is a superior charger? Is that the same as my flux capacitor?

HAHA or it's that people don't want to read your story about how your dad caught the mod bug by watching you install a CAI and that he used to mod 911's. Im sure if he modded porsches he wouldn't need your help into knowing what it takes to make a car go fast.

Anyways, i am just going to guess that he has the g35 sedan (i think thats what you said after about 25 sentances of nonsense) and he has the new vqHR motor correct? If he does you are not going to be able to squeeze a whole lot of power out of her yet as most products are still in development.

You might want to research the stillen dual exhaust and the fujita dual air intakes. It will probably cost you something around 1400 for the both (just throwing out figures) and you probably wont gain a lot of HP as the new HR motor is pretty well tuned from the factory, but that should give him a head start.

i see, well thanks for the bit of help nismo. its not that he doesnt know how to modify a car. but its that he doesnt know how to find the best information these days, and wat will be best so i told him id give him a hand. he knows what it takes, but the market has changed a **** load in 20 years. but raising 3 kids and working 50+ hrs a week doesnt leave much time to be a huge car nut.

i guess i just assumed you guys would be a friendly bunch and gave some sort of an intoduction. but after reading other posts im noticing that most of what you guys give input on is just "go buy this, it costs xyz" without saying why or what.

and yes, i said he has the 4dr g35 sport.

and he doesnt want exhaust cuz he doesnt wanna sound like a 15 year old kid in a civic with a garbage can for a muffler like 95% of imports do.

thanks tho. ill search else wehre because im not impressed by this community.

so go take your rice and eat it elsewhere

The stillen exhaust actually wont sound a whole lot different than the stock exhaust. If anything it is going to sound more "American". There are only a couple exhausts out for the Z’s and G’s that sound like crap the rest are great IMO.

Here is the stillen exhaust on my coupe - its going to sound pretty close to this

<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/vcnXnBHMuAg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/vcnXnBHMuAg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

You also are not asking for any particular information, while also coming in to a import forum and saying your American ride is so much better than ours. Unless you are driving an SRT charger than your car isn’t faster than ours just to give you a heads up. V-6 vs. V-8 and you guys still only have a quarter of a second on us if that – nothing but a driver’s race.

Maybe if you came in with a more specific question “ I want to know what this would do and why you think this and that” rather than coming in and being like “my domestic is better than yours - it will smoke you all day, can you help me with this”. You are going to get responses based on your statements.

You came in stating ridiculous information and asking a questions that everyone could go on about for weeks. We are not trying to be rude, but you asked for it. What would happen if we came to your forum saying "your cars are crap domestic beaters and we will smoke you all day!!" Is your "community" going to be sarcastic or are they going to be polite and helpful?

just my .02 cents.

First off it would have been better to search for the info you wanted.
Second off anytime you would like to bring that dodge charger(probably one of the ugliest pos,s since the amc pacer)to race me just let me know. And make sure you put as many hand held power inducers that you can cause you will need it.
