Oil change every 3 months needed?

I'm just curious if it is as important to change the oil every 3 months like you do for every 3k miles. I guess it doesn't hurt but I drive about 800 miles within my 3 months period. I've always changed my oil in 3 months rather than waiting for 3k miles but I was just wondering what the people who rarely drive their G do.

Ive never bothered with it . I change only ever 3000 miles in my DD . The F/I G35 gets it ever 1500 miles . No matter the length of time .

I change mine every 3-4K or every 6 months, whichever comes first. 3-4 always comes first unfortunately.

it depends on what kind of oil you're using. If you're using full syn then you can wait 6 months no problem, because you're obviously not driving the car 5k miles in that time span.

if you don't drive your car hard, you can go 7k+ with synthetic.. but I change around 4k. Us Z/G drivers are paranoid and nobody dares to go 7k and beyond

the dealer just uses regular oil right? They gave me 5 complimentary oil changes when i got the car. But since my 1st change is nearing should I throw in synthetic or use their complimentary ones?

If its free, might as well just use em up. Give your car a chance to completely break in before you put the full syn in there.

The importance of the every 3 month visit to dealer for an oil change is so the technicans [with proper motivation - $$/doughnuts/ etc tip in advance, something for your buddy] can find defects to charge Nissan Warranty to repair!

A proper owner with a properly motivated technican can almost always find things to fix.

I go 8k on full synthetic mobil1. On full synthetic you can go 15k, ie on bmw/mb where they specify not to go in for an oil change til then. But since it wasn't specifically stated or designed for full synthetic, safest way is keep it under 10k, to avoid problems witht he dealer later on/something to blame a problem on. I don't push my car either so even at 8k oil is still damn good.
