Fishtailing and rightward pull

I'm looking into buying an 04 G35 coupe 6mt. It is slightly modded- front and rear sway bars, adjustable control arms, lowered on Eibach springs cold air intake, stillen exhaust- it only has 17,600 miles on it and the dealer bought it at auction after the original owner turned it into the bank because he couldn't make the payments. My mechanic checked it out today... He noticed a small amount of fishtailing when he got on the gas, and a small rightward pull when applying brakes. Other than that he felt it was in good conditon. I'd pay $24525 for the car, $26703 walk off. Should I be cautious about buying a car modded like this? How about the fishtail and rightward pull when the brakes are applied, has anyone had problems like that?

I'm surprised a mechanic would tell you it pulled to the right instead of telling you what was wrong with the car. It is probably as simple as low tire pressure in the front right tire. If you paid for the evaluation, you should get the details.

As far as worrying about the mods; this may not be the place to ask. Everybody on this site likes to do mods. I have replaced every bit of the car's weeker points with a better than OEM alternative (check the sig). I find my "moded" G is better than stock. The mods on your candidate G seem quite reasonable. If they weren't there, you would be putting them on yourself and paying retail pricing.

Go for it!

Haha. I like your enthusiasm and appreciate your feedback. Just so you know, the mechanic was someone who I know very well, he test drove the car with me, and lifted it in the air for a thorough inspection (and did it for free!). The thing is I wasn't sure what I could expect by buying a car that has racing modifications. How hard could it have been pushed? Could there be extra engine wear on it? These are just some of the questions that come to mind.

I've moded the crap out of mine, but I treat it like another member of the family. Take a look at the engine and underneath the car; if it looks like it has been babied, it could be a great buy. Sure, I jump on it once in a while, but I would never abuse it.

Check the pressure in the tires and if it needs an alignment, it's definitely worth the money to have that done right away - or better yet, have the dealer throw that in before you agree to buy.
