How long to wait for new engine???

How long does it take to get a new engine? I have complete my 3x1000 mile oil consumption test and was 4 quarts low. (1 quart low the first 1000 miles, 1.5 quarts low the second and third 1000 miles) Anyway, dealer said the made the claim to Infiniti and have yet to hear back. The dealer said they are pushing for a new engine, but how long should i expect to wait. Its been 3 weeks already.

I remember he had an oil depletion issue and blew his engine. I think he said 3 months plus all the haggling from insurance and dealership crap.

It's not the wait for 1 engine, it's the wait on top off all the other engines that have to be replaced.

But as said, if you are rocking the loaner, what's the rush? hehe

I got my new tranny in a couple days but I think the extra time will be to get the ok from Infiniti to give you a new motor. I would check back with them every couple days. If you let them sit on it they will...

correct.

i guess because of the cost of a new engine there is more red-tape to deal with.

i just had a new 6 speed tranny installed with minimal waiting. i asked what the cost to me would have been and the dealer said ~$4000 part only.

just a guess, but a new engine from the factory would have to be ~$10000.

I ordered one for a customer due to a knocking noise & kad it in 3 days.

With that said I don't believe there is a fix for the oil consumption yet so that might be the cause of a delay.

I def have a oil consumption problem.. Does warranty have any effect on someone getting a new engine from infiniti b/c I'm out of the factory warranty. I do have an extended warranty.

Also you guys think i can go to Nissan to get this problem solved.. The infiniti Dealership here blows.

Well, I'm still driving my car now...

They said they ordered me a new engine, but meanwhile i have already put another 1500 miles on my car. Its been three weeks and the dealership says they have no new information for me. So I dont have a loaner yet. I guess I will have one when they can start actually working on my car.

took a month to get the small block. That blew up in about 40 minutes. Then took 1 1/2 weeks for the long block. Loaner the whole time. Man the sedan is fun to drive.

like VQ Hotness asked, does the car have to be in warrenty for the engine to be replaced if nessasary? I'm still shopping around, but I've heard about the oil consumption issue, I will probably be buying a car out of warrenty, but there would be no way for me to know if the car has this problem from a simple test drive.

Isn't the drivetrain warranty longer (6 years, ? miles)? We should all be in the year range, though high mileage people may be out of warranty.
