How loud is the knock? Is it a slight tap/tick, or thudding like knock?
When I had suspicion of knock, I first thought it was valvetrain noise. Sounded close to this. The noise was relative to rpm levels. The noise was more prevalent underneath the car:
Little did I know when I continued to drive the car back home just for a few miles... it started to sound like this:

This video shows what a spun rod bearing is. The rod is loose because of a decimated bearing (and basically spun onto the other half). The loose nature will cause the knock to rod when the crank turns.
And it's all because of oil starvation.
Hope you get her back on the road.

^ thanks.
here's the update:
took her to Infiniti of Oakland today and was brought to john (service rep)
he was telling me that i should use 10w-40 sythetic BLEND. i dont know if he just wants me to avoid the oil burning all together and not replace my VQ.
my engine sounds like a diesel engine, and to them it's "no abnormal knocking noise". i'm pretty fustrated of this whole thing. should i go to a different dealership to get my engine replaced or just get a G37.
