Painting TB

Hmmm... not sure where to put this because it's a cosmetic mod, but not body or interior...

I've painted most of the black plastic under the hood (still need to paint radiator core support and MAF tube/housing) and have powder-coated plenum - plan to PC plenum spacer and TBS...

So all that's left that sticks out like a sore thumb is the Throttle Body itself... I want to paint it the color that all the black plastic (including Z-Tube) was painted.

Has anyone painted their throttle body? If so, any pointers? Is there any major concern I should have? Obviously I will be very careful of the throttle plate and mask off critical areas... anything I'm overlooking? I'm not sure why no one (that I know of) has done this...

well... I knew it wasn't common, but I was hoping someone had done it. Oh well, I will be giving it a shot this weekend... If anyone has done this please chime in.

Thanks

I don't see why not if it bothers you that much. Just make sure the only place you are painting is the metal itself. Don't know how else to describe it, be careful? lol, sorry that wasn't much help. Here's a pic of someone elses car to keep you from being too discouraged , GL.

thanks for the response and pic... I don't think there's too much to worry about. I will mask off openings and plastic and only intend to paint the metal... cleaning and prepping might be a PITA – we’ll see how it goes.

Any pointers on prep? Cleaning specifically… I have good adhesion promoter but I’m a little concerned about getting the nooks & crannies clean of residue… I planned to spray with throttle body cleaner then wipe down with mineral spirits then try to wipe clean with damp cloth. What did you do for prep and how did it turn out?
