First Oil change?

I know the usual is 3000 miles, but i'm hearing and i've been told g35's first change should be more at 3750 miles....can anyone confirm this or should I just stick to the regular rules. By the way the car is a 6mt and i drive the car the way it wants to be driven, nice and hard.....haha....

Re: First Oil change?

My dealer does the oil changes every 3750 mi, so that’s when I first brought mine in. I assume they know what they’re doing.

Re: First Oil change?

I did mine after break in, then at 3K, then at 7500K. At 10K I'm going synthetic.

Re: First Oil change?

is there a reason why you're going synthetic at 10k miles?

Re: First Oil change?

No proven reason to wait, just owner preference. You don't want to use synthetic oil on an engine that hasn't been broken in. It's too slick and doesn't allow proper break-in. So you could technically change to synthetic after 1200 miles but there's no need to change your oil after break-in since Nissan/Infiniti do not use break-in oil.

Re: First Oil change?

with synthetic, do you change less frequently then ? Or still every 4000 miles ?

Re: First Oil change?

You can go longer between oil changes with synthetic.

Re: First Oil change?

I wish our cars were engineered like porsche's where you don't have to do an oil change for 15,000 miles...but you need something like 8 quarts....

instead we have to use 4.6 quarts ever 3000 miles....

Re: First Oil change?

just like *Shader7* said, i'm willing to do my first oil change right after the break in, then at 3k and so on.. i had my coupe for 3 weeks, but still has about 100 miles on meter. need to drive it more often....

Re: First Oil change?

You really should change your oil in the first 500 miles to remove any small metal shavings left in the motor. then swap out the oil again by 2000 miles then again at 4000 where you can switch to synthetic.

Re: First Oil change?

Go look up amsoil. A Mobil 1 alternative and I've heard good stuff about them. http://www.amsoil.com
Unfortunately, you can only find amsoil from dealers or purchase online. I think I heard that they have a mileage guarantee as well.
