Question Will MREV2 Work with Kinetix Plenum

I am looking to purchasing the MREV2 lower plenum, but will it work with the kinetix upper plenum, especially on a 03 AT (non rev-up engines.) Anybody know?

The SSV replaces both the upper and lower plenum so not compatible with oem style plenum mods.

I don't think he's talking about the SSV, but rather the kinetix upper plenum, kinda like the crawford plenum. It should work fine with the mrev2, but why not just use a spacer in combination with the mrev2? The MREV2 isn't really meant for a nonrevup engine either, and may cause lean conditions without a proper tune

So in your opinion guys, i shouldnt put the MREV2 cause my motor is not a rev up engine? I use to have the spacer, but i personally dislike it and went with the Kinetix upper plenum, im going cams anyways, just wondering if i should change my lower plenum to mrev2 while digging in or just keep it how it is and slap on my cams valve springs/retainers etc.

Do you have any sort of engine management? If you do, then the MREV2 can net you some added HP, along with the cams, but without a tune you aren't going to be making any significant hp increases.

How do you plan on tuning it without some sort of engine management?

The MREV and Kinetix plenum would bolt on fine. The MREV on a non-REVUP is only worth a few hp. Adding the MREV on a non-RevUp won't require a a/f tune. Also the Kinetix plenum is IMHO not the best choice. So using these together IMHO isn't the best use of resources.

K=Kinetix's latest offering according to Tonly. Just be glad you didn't by AAM's spacer!

Selling the Kinetix and buying the 5/16" or 1/2" spacer would be the best use of funds.

I have the Crawford V5 plenum. "C" in the graph. I got a killer deal on it and it shows great gains so I bought it.

i was thinking of flashing my ecu, but hey if i cant tune it, no problem, ill buy engine management. Also regarding to the Kinetix Plenum info, thanks for that, i am thinking of going for the Crawford Plenum now. You guys know if changing to MREV2 will higher the height of my plenums, i dont want it to touch my strut bar if you know what i mean. In ur honest opinion you think its even worth getting the mrev2? Should i just leave it how it is? Thanks for all your opinions guys, it was All helpful.

A flash is a form of engine management. As for if the MREV2 is worth it, imo no and a nonrevup engine, and the guys from motordyne will likely tell you the same thing. Don't take my word for it though, send them an email and they'll let you know the pros and cons of installing the mrev2 on a nonrevup engine.

The kinetix plenum used in the dyno shoot out was a V4, not a V+ according to Tony

IMPORTANT EDIT: It wasn't my test. It was Sport Z Magazines test.

.

A V+ will net you about the same power as the spacer...The reason the V4 didn't perform well was because it only increased the volume of air by 8%...the V+ increases it an additional 12% giving a total of 20%. You also have the benefit of not having the plenum experience heat soak...

bumpin' this...

there is hardly any info on this forum about the Kinetix V+ plenum. Until the other day, I was planning on getting the MDE 5/16 Iso spacer used for around $200-220, but they're hard to come by. Well I have an offer from someone who will trade me their hardly used Kinetix V+ plenum for my headunit, which would work out great. Now, I want some good hard info on this unit. Will the V+ net the same gains as the 5/16 Iso kit? Are there any downsides to getting it over the MDE spacer? Because I would love to jump on this if possible, only if it provides the same power as the MDE spacer. Thanks for the input.

`John

the only real downside is you lose the OEM look (for some that doesn't matter)... it could be an issue with smog and/or dealer repair (at less than mod-friendly dealers).

To answer the MREV2 on non-revup motor... it is not the best use of mod funds, but when you've maxed out most everything else, and you are tweaking as much as you can with intake (like I did), it is a viable option. I leaned out after installing a modified lower collector so I know it’s working. However I also have a slightly modified upper plenum and several other intake tweaks.
