Quick Spark Plug Question!
Quick Spark Plug Question!
Hey guys,
I am thinking about changing my spark plugs. I have an 03 with about 72k. I went to the NKG website, and they gave me two possible choices for the plugs.
-Double Platinum NKG 6240 PLFR5A-11, for $11.71 each
-IX iridium NKG 4469 LFR5AIX-11 , for $8.00 each
The double platinum are the OE plugs, but does it make a difference if I run the iridium's? I have searched and a lot of people use the iridium plugs, but why are they cheaper? Does it have to do with the quality of the plug, or is it just becasue the OE parts are expensive?
Also, about how long does it take for the dealership/a shop to install plugs, and how much would they charge if I just did parts and labor through the dealer? I would do this myself, but I have a bit of a phobia of torque wrenches ever since I installed my plenum spacer.
Thanks for the help!

Changing the plugs is very easy. Just make sure you take the first minute to move the obstacles out of the way. If you do, it will only take 20 minutes to change the plugs. Don't try to work around the stuff in the way.
Yeah, there's a useful DIY too. I don't think it'll be difficult I just need to find a torque wrench that actually works as opposed to one that almost broke 4 bolts because it didn't work properly.

indexing ensures the plugs fire in the same direction, it just makes it more efficient, they will still work fine if its not all indexed the same but you just gain a little more output when you index them...just think of it like a burner on a grill, even though one burner might be scewed left or right it will cook just the same, but if they are all aligned then it cooks evenly on all sides, make sense?
