1 of the prongs that is on my utec broke off. i found a wireing diagram and the prong goes to the evap canister purge volume control solenoid valve. what does this do and do i need the prong for my car to function right?

 

Evap purge keeps the fuel tank pressure and vapor at acceptable limits and injects excess pressure into plenum to burn................
