PLEASE HELP!!! Can't bolt engine/tranny together! :(
And I'm having some problems. There is a solid 1/8" gap between the tranny and the engine, and the bolts feel pretty tight. It's all aluminum, so I'd rather not torque stuff down, and go crazy and strip stuff out.
I've backed the tranny off once so far, and checked the torque convertor to see if it's seated right. Everything seems good. I can't push it back onto the tranny any farther. I got two "clicks" out of it when I was seating it. The first click when I put it on, and the second when I turned the TC around a little to get it farther on the input shaft. The engine and tranny came together from the factory, so it "should" be going together fine.
What can I do to get these two together in harmony? I have to work tomorrow, but if I can get some responses here, I can probably try a few things before work tomorrow.
My opinion is that the two should slip right together, and bolt up without too much trouble. Can some one give me some insight? What am I doing wrong? PLEASE help me! As much fun as it is to take the GSXR to work everyday, I REALLY like the cushy comfy G35.

What do you have the tranny resting on ? If you have the tranny on a jack you might have to jack it up a little to make sure it is going in strait ! You can also try twisting the tranny slightly back and forth for it to get a better fit . There sould be no space as you know between the tranny and the motor .
Make you filled you TC with one quart of nissan fluid and then put it on and twisting it intil it's flush with the case. a jack stand a jack will help you keep your tranny straight with the engine. Since you might have the car rinse my up in the front
I belive its 3 clicks and it should lay in the housing and not be flush with it. You can tell when its fully in when you turn the converter and feel some resistance to you turnign the converter while in the tranny
keep turning it back and forth till it goes all the way back in .
make sure to lube it all up too, all the dowel pins and everything that contacts metal to metal to make sure it slides in easy..

Yup... Three clicks it was. Unfortunately, it wasn't on the new transmission.
I put the old TC back on the old trans, and bolted it up. A little bummed about it, but eh, not a huge deal I guess. I'll pull apart the new trans and see what kind of damage I did.

turn the torque converter in the position that the flexplate is (since it's easier to turn the TC than the flexplate).
when installing, make sure the DOWELS are in place. dowels are the most common reason for it to leave a gap
