Sad day - I UnModded...

Hey all,

I took off my grounding kit, Stillen intake and Z-tube yesterday and went back to bone stock because of issues I'm having with my vehicle! The engine would "get stuck" at around 2200-2400 RPM occasionally and not go higher. I was thinking it was my MAF that went bad or got dirty but after disassemmbling it yesterday, there was no oil or gunk inside it. I did have a bad belt because my AC compressor was out of alignment. The belt frayed and sent belt dust throughout the engine compartment. The Stillen filter had a lot of black dust from the fraying belt on it and I'm wondering if the problem I was having came from that dust going through the K&N on the Stillen and passing over the MAF causing it to sent the O2 sensors out of whack? Maybe a new filter on the Stillen would have helped, I'm not sure though. Now that I'm back to stock, I haven't had a problem and no sticking of the engine. If it continues to go without problems, I'm good! If not, back to the dealer it goes! I was sad having to take off my mods but I would much rather have a car that runs right all the time than one that I couldn't even have fun with and use to it's advantage without having to worry about it not performing right and "sticking". Maybe leter I'll go back and add my mods back on but for now, I'm in full factory warranty mode and with also having purchased an extended warranty, I'll be good for another 6 years.

Sounds like your car is in limp mode... resetting the ECU should make it go back, unless you have a bad MAF.. take it to the dealer..

6 years???? Man I get sick of cars after about 2-3 years. Hate the idea that my car is so technologically behind that I have to run out and buy the next best thing.

Re: Sad day - I UnModded...

Limp mode - doesn't even describe it! Every time I'd try to get on the car a little this would happen! I did the ECU reset after it happens but then it happens again shortly thereafter so an ECU reset does nothing lasting. I simply had to turn the car off for 10 seconds, restart it and boom, back in business for a short while. I was sick and tired of having to restart though every time I'd mash the gas so I removed the mods. So far, in the past two days since the mods have been off, the car drives just like when I first bought it. No problems whatso ever! I think it was the K&N on the Stillen because if it was a MAF issue, I'd still be having problems today and I haven't! I'm going to keep the Stillen off though for this summer and probably into next winter and if all goes well, maybe a year from now, try the Stillen again. That way if I do have any more issues in the near future, I can take it to the dealer for them to check out and be covered under warranty. Does anyone know what the model number for the K&N cone filter the Stillen intake uses? I'd be willing to put on a new filter and trying it again. Without the belt dust on there, it might just work.

...A new car every two or three years, I wish I could afford it. For now, I'm set! I traded in a '95 Grand Prix for my G. It was quite a move up in technology then so I'm good for a while!!!

Thanks!

So you might as well put the z-tube and the grounding kit back on =)

heh... I'm coming from a '95 grand am that did 0-60 in a whopping 9.1 or so sec.
