Grinding noise when starting the engine

I did a quick search and I didn't find a topic on this so here goes.

Ok so i'm getting concerned about this. Sometimes when I start the car, I would hear a grinding sound under the hood for about 1 second. It runs fine and everything, but it's been bugging me lately. Any ideas what it could be and how I can fix it? A friend of mine said it could just be the belts. I'm pretty confused.

Btw, I have no mods.

bad sparkplugs make that noise, my guess is it's not providing strong enough of a spark to start your engine or it's taking a little too long.... correct me if I'm wrong anyone

Meh, the engine start instantly with no hesitation so I doubt it's the spark plugs. I could be wrong though.

Hate grinding noise......!

My G makes the same noise but only on about 1 in 5 startups. Not something
you could take to the stealership because it isn't consistent and only does it
when it's sat overnight.

X3 here. Only when it's a cold start. Today it didn't do it though, and it was a freezing cold start.

Either way, I bet the stealership won't find it...

I thought maybe it's the IAC gurgling for a split second as the A/F ratio stabilizes, but I somehow doubt it. I'd swear it sounds like something more internal that that.
