Hey guys I was wondering if anyone else had this issue... Nearly every time I start up the car and warm it up, everything is fine. But when I start to drive off, the engine makes sort of a splashing sound, kind of like a blow off valve. Wondering if anyone else knows....thanks

sounds like an exahust leak, Im takin mine back to the dealership because it is making the same sound, after they replaced the whole engine! Ill get back to you..

 

When I pull out of my driveway, right when it hits 2k rpm's in first I hear that sound... but I've always heard that sound since I got the car so I don't think its anything to worry about.

 

This might have something to do with your cooling system, having a leak.
After dealer replaced the engine in my 06, I have noticed a strange sopund, like water rushing thru something, right after starting a car. It took them 5 tries until they finally figured it out. 3 times I didn't even pick up the car 'cause when I got in it and turned it on, the sound was there. I don't remember exactly but I think on last try I had coolan dripping on the ground.
They weren't more specific what it was but they said that something was't tight enough and there was an air leak.

 

oh I took a video and had my brother's custom shop hear it. It some kind of terrible knock inside the engine. 300 miles on a brand enw engine from Infiniti and its worse off that it was before. I cant believe my new engine knocks...I have the video but the sound wont seem to come through when I upload to tinypic. Anyone else know of a good video web host???

kblue35, I know exactly what noise you're talking about. My car has been making that noise as far back as I can remember. I have a 2004 Auto G35 Coupe. No clue what it is, and the dealer can't reproduce it... it seems like they can never reproduce any problem I have... More often than not, the noise happens usually when the car has been sitting for a while. But it does sound sort of like a blow-off valve, or a release noise... it's almost like it happens right before the car shifts into 2nd gear in auto mode.

 

To my understanding its the ABS charging and it does not have to do with gear but waht speed you are at. I think it happens at 7mph.

 

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!! Noobs, Funny Posts, thx ppl for atleast trying LOL. That little blow off release noise right? I been hearing that noise for 2 years straight now every morning when I drive my car out, happens in the mornings for me after warm up as for I can remember, in my opinion I believe it's normal!! Quit freaking out guys hahaha Plus I'm supercharged, if that was a problem I would've known by now LOL. I could be wrong here, but naaah, doubt it Should be normal

 

It has been discussed before, the noise you hear is the ABS system charging/testing. It is programmed to occur at 7mph once for evertime the cars is started. It does nothing to do what gear you are in.
