I just noticed that my gatorback A/C belt I put on last December (06) is cracked. So it only lasted a year.

Cracking is normal. Don't worry about it.

I have 33k miles on my 2004 and I just replaced the belts due to cracking. It does have two belts, only 1 was cracked but I figured I might as well replace both of them.

Cracking to some amount is normal due to the flexing. On my last Maxima I replaced the OE belts for the first time at 100K. On my tundra I replaced the original belts at 140K. I live in florida though, so our belts have a pretty easy life - they never get cold.

My G35 is an '06 The A/C belt lost a rib, then broke with 20K on the car. My dealer said it is a wear item and not covered under warranty. In my case I believe there is a mechanical alignment problem as it has eaten 2 more A/C belts since then.

I have my 04 G and my 04 Z and both had cracked belts at about 55-60k. I replaced both belts on both cars with Gates belts for peace of mind (and because my friend is a Nissan mechanic and did them for me!)

I have 29k on an 06 (Bought OCT 06) and my AC belt broke yesterday (93deg outside). You can tell by the mileage that it is a DD. I can't believe I lost a belt already. Anyway, I just bought 2 gatorbacks and I'll be replacing both today.

I had 29k on my 03 coupe when I took it to the dealer for warranty work and they told me the same thing (cracked, dry rotted, needs replacement). My friend whose a mechanic at a different manufacturer dealership told me cracking is normal (like many others have posted). I didn't change it until 2 years later when I was doing my 60k maintenance and that was only b/c I was already under the car and new belts were cheap.
