Blinder Laser Jammer Install

Re: Blinder Laser Jammer Install
Inside the cabin you must remove the door sills, kick plate, footwell trim panel, cig lighter trim panel, and instrument cluster. For power I tapped into the cig lighter, black wire is ground and red is +12v. I intalled the switch in the cig lighter since I never use it anyway. I had to disassemble the lighter socket to make room for the switch. I tucked the control unit in the space behind the cig lighter panel. The LED is installed in the instrument cluster for easy visibilty and stealth install, the speaker is installed on the bottom the instrument panel using double sided tape. Since the instument panel moves, make sure you have slack in the wires so it won't bind or get caught in any moving parts. I used split loom thoughout the entire install for a clean factory look and to protect the wires.

pic of the LED installed inside the instrument cluster. It's a good hidden spot and is easilly visible while you drive. it glows green to indicate it's ready and red when it detects and jamms a laser signal. The audio buzzer is located on the bottom of the instument cluster, hidden from view. I have to go back in and put some foam tape over the buzzer cause it's too damn loud.

Very nice!
You tapped into the cig lighter so if the switch is left on it will come on with the key and off with the key right? Is there any reason to turn it off? I'm not too knowledgable on laser jammers but I've been thinking of getting one. I like where you put the led, that's where my V1 remote is.

TrentaCinque, yup if comes on with ignition and goes off when you shut off the car. The switch is just there in case you want to turn it off. They say when it goes off, to slow down to the speedlimit and then shut it off so the cop can get a reading on you so it's not to suspicious.
I would have preferred to have it totally hidden too but the main goal here is functionality and it is recommened that it have an unobstructed view of the road ahead for maximum effectiveness. I pushed it out so that at the most it extends to the edge of the grill. It looks wierd cause it needs to be perpendicular to the road and not follow the contour of the car.
If it were set behind the grill then it would be partially blocked and if it were located in the lower grill then it would be far away from the headlights. It's all a compromise and I would prefer to err on the side of better prerformance then better asthetics.

Re: Blinder Laser Jammer Install
It was $315 shipped to me in Hawaii, took 2 days to get here, I had to pay extra for 2 day UPS. The install took too damn, long, 8 hours non-stop. I'm kinda ****, so I take my time and do things slow and always check my work especially if I'm going to be altering the car (like cutting the grill and bumper). But what really took me long was trying to figure out how to take the instument cluster out, I've never had a Nissan before so their build style is new to me and it took me a while to figure out how to get things apart. If I had to do it again since I'm familiar with the car, I would think about 4 hours would be sufficient.

Great install!! Looks like you really took your time and did everything cleanly, which is the way to go. I especially like the rocker switch in the cigarette lighter...how did you do that exactly?

Re: Blinder Laser Jammer Install
thanks, I try to do things as tidy as I can, but yes it takes a bit longer to do it that way. got lucky with the switch, it was a perfect fit in the cig lighter socket. the expansion tangs on the switch hold it in place and the diameter is perfect. all you need to do is remove the back portion of the socket and gutout the contacts, it's really easy just remove the screw and it all comes out. I'll try to get some pics. but it was getting late and I wanted to just get the hell out of the car already so I didn't take any pics once I started on the interior.
