In Need Of Help!!(alternator)

Well Lets See To Start With My Hubby Is Deployed In Iraq And I Am Left Alone To Replace The Alternator On Our '03 G35 Sedan And Well I Know What An Alternator Looks Like And What It Does And Well Thats As Far As My Knowledge Goes On Cars, I Know How They Run And What Things In Them Do But No Actually Knowledge Of How To Replace And Or Repair Them. Normally This Wouldnt Be A Problem Because Well I Would Have My Hubby Home Standing Over Me To Make Sure I Didnt Mess Up. Two Things I Need, A Service Manuel So That I Can Get The Belt Configuration Right For The Pulleyes, And Also So I Can Make Sure That What I Think Is The Alternator Actually Is The Alernator. I Also Need Instructions. In Theory I Know How To Replace This Alternator But In Theory Is A Little Differant From Actually Knowing How To Do It Because Well You Have Done It Before. If Some One Can Point Me In The Right Direction For Both Of These Things I Would Really Appreciate It.

I would take it to a shop and have them do the swap for you. Since you "have no idea how to replace" (or how to use caps for every word!) you could cause more damage than repair. Just get one from a vendor and have a shop take care of it for you.

it's not rocket science, it's 6 bolts i beleive take alternator off put new one on and then take and bolt it down, put new belt on correctly over the pulleyes, and replace engine cover and done. besides to have it done will cost me like $600-800! yeah and the part is only $90! so i would rather do it myself!

You seem alot more confident in this post than in your original. If you're that confident, then by all means, go right ahead, its definitely not a hard project to tackle if you've done an alternator before.

Make 100% sure you remove the negative cable on the battery before you start ANY work on that alternator!

Wow, in no time you know a lot more than what it looks like and what it does!
At this rate you will have it on it 15 minutes...

Have you receive a quote? $600 even at the dealers labor rate would put it at a 5hrs jobs @ $100/hr, minus 1-2hrs of BS inflation they like to tag on, still put it to roughly 3-4 hrs job. Replacement taking more than 2hrs tends to fall into the intermediate skillset IMO. I don't know how handy your are, but just realistically plan the project (a pro with proper tools estimating 3-4hr will equates to you taking x hrs to complete).

I hear you - even I feel the same way. Sometimes it looks and seems easy but we still want the manual nearby as a precautionary measure
