i would just keep checking and refilling the motor with oil. probably want to use a thicker viscosity 10w30 or 40 vs 5w30. maybe go search for a used motorset. i'm sure there are tons as i know of someone who swapped a VQ into his S13. either way, you'll be paying out of pocket. also, the other night at the local pep boys i saw lucas oil stabilizer on sale. anyone know if this might help those who have older out of warranty motors? is the VQ letting us down? does BMW have this type of problem with any of their newer models?

Appreciate it. Now I guess the question is, you know any used low-mileage VQ motors for sale?

Apparently mine is handbuilt from japan, part number ending in "9" not 1 like the original engine. It looks different on the front plating as well. I bitched to NNA so much they extended my bumper to bumper warranty until 2012 (I have an '05). Try for this for the pain and suffering. No odomoter roll back. With a warranty thru 2012, keeping it and I don't care about resale (7 yr total bumper to bumper)!
Do you still have that number?
