Exclamation Questions About Oil Consumption/Engine Replacement!!!

I guess it's a good thing that the dealership is willing to do this, but what should I expect after the replacement? What are the differences with the newer engines? How did they solve the oil consumption problem? How will this affect my resale value, warranty, odometer mileage with the DMV, etc.? I drive a 2006 6MT Coupe. Any info would be much appreciated!

I have an '04 and they replaced only the long or short block of the engine. Everything else stays the same, my odometer was not rolled back. I didn't get a newer engine. My guess how it solves the oil consumption problem is as good as yours. I was told warranty stays the same as with the original engine, which is until 70k miles. At first I also thought new engine means better resale value, but as I read some comments most buyers are not happy buying a car that had the engine replaced, so unless you're selling it to family or friends I wouldn't mention it.

I got it replaced before the TSB. I called NNA and was very firm. This is my 1st Infiniti and I told them I was not happy with my ownership experience. I think the new engine is more responsive and the same if not better, but I would have loved to have dyno'd the 2. Apparently mine is handbuilt from japan, part number ending in "9" not 1 like the original engine. It looks different on the front plating as well. I bitched to NNA so much they extended my bumper to bumper warranty until 2012 (I have an '05). Try for this for the pain and suffering. No odomoter roll back. With a warranty thru 2012, keeping it and I don't care about resale (7 yr total bumper to bumper)!

Thanks for the info, guys. Anate, I hope the replacement process goes as well for me as it did for you. Your input is much appreciated. Anyone else have any observations or experiences with a new engine in their G?

Just got my G35 back with the new engine. It has the 10102-AC7M9 part number on the invoice, so apparently I have the so-called "V2" engine. Too soon to know if it's a success, but I'll post a status report as soon as I put a couple thousand miles on it. One thing I did notice is that it does seem a little sluggish compared to my original motor. Pretty disappointing. I don't know, maybe it's because I was rolling in an '07 G35 sedan loaner for a while, I got used to the extra torque. Man, I never realized how much stronger the HR feels in the low to mid range than the rev-up VQ engines, even in those big sedans. Makes me very tempted to just say screw it and go get a G37.

Anybody have any thoughts on what I should do. My warranty expired 9months ago, my motor is shot. When I checked the fluids, there was practically no oil at all. I was told by another G owner, that getting the motor changed would only be honored with the warranty. So is this true, & if so, is there any other option(inexpensive)... or am I out of luck?

It is ILLEGAL TO ROLL BACK AND ODOMETER FOR ANY REASON. You still have what ever mileage you drove on the first engine on the chassis. I had my engine replaced under oil consumption and have 45 on my chassis as of right now. Dream on if we think they can roll back the odometer and youll have a new car again.

Just an update for all the future engine replacements ! I had my engine replaced like three months ago . Broke the engine in extra careful ! Never drove over 3rpm's for the first 1500 miles ! The next 1000 never over 4rpm's . I now have like 4000 on the motor and have just done my 3rd oil change . First oil change after 2500 miles with regular 10/30 Castro . Second after 4000 miles with 5/30 Castro ! JUst put the Royal Purple 10/30 ! My tech at the dealer said after the break in period that I could drive it like I stole it and I did just that ! You have to understand that I have gotten use to checking my oil almost everytime I got in the car . I have gone out during the weekends hunting for cars to F*uck with . To make a long story short my new engine hasn't burnt a drop of oil driving as fast as 160mph ! Got ecu reflashed by AAM ! Motor is very strong to . That hand built motor with part number ending in 9 is the sh*t . I have been driving the car hard just to see if it would burn oil with no luck !! Hope that help guys ! Goodluck !!

i dont believe the BS about the hand built engines, I doubt they made that many engines by hand. The rings sucks so unless nissan got different ones then hand built or not its still a turd.
