Clanking sound??
When I shut my car off i hear a little rattling or clanking sound..I thought maybe it was just the exhaust shaing when i turned off the car but than I noticed if I press the clutch all the way own and shut it off, it doesnt make that sound but if I dont have my foot on the clutch it will make that rattle clank sound...any idea on what it could be...somthing with the clutch lever or bearing or somthing?
Also I would here a slight clink sound every few seconds when i let the car run. I was parked and just walking around my car and i would here a slight clink every couple seconds, i dont know if it was the tranny or clutch turning or somthing...Any one have any ideas on these two problems or sounds?

Actually I picked up my 05 g35 coupe 6mt last Monday. I got it from carmax with only 21k on it. I asked the techs at carmax if it was normal and they said nothing was wrong and it was a characteristic of the 6mt. I still felt a little weary of this so I took it to infinity where i had a technition drive it and he agreed that that clanking sound when I turn the car off was quite loud. Also, my clutch pedal has a vibration in it only when you are moving. at rest it doesn't seem to have this problem. The tech said it could be the throw out bearing or a pressure plate spring that came loose. I scheduled a warrany job for tomorrow and they are replacing my clutch/pressure plate under factory warranty. I will let ya'll know the outcome of the repair.

Well, I am not getting a new clutch/pressure plate put in my car.Actually, I am getting a brand new transmission put into my car instead. Unfortunately I won't be getting my car back until Monday because guess what...The carrier bearing for the input shaft, inside the transmission, went out. They let me take a look at the old transmission and I grabbed a hold of the input shaft and I wiggled it around. I would say it had about 1-2 mm of play in the shaft. Not front to back, up and down. They said that was what was making the clanking noise. So, is this a huge problem with MANY transmissions? Is the noise that everyone just settles with actually the carrier bearing going out? I have to say for an Infiniti I am not that impressed. I hear a lot of people on forums complaining of this clanking sound when they turn their car off. When I get the car back I will listen for the noise and see if I can still hear anything with the new tranny in it. Stay tuned...

Hi, I just bought an 04 Sedan Black/Black with the 6MT and it's awesome But, I'm also feeling that Vibration in the Clutch pedal when the car is moving, Specially when I press the Gas pedal at low RPMs as well as the clinking sound every few seconds while the car is in Idle. Please let us know if the Infiniti Dealership was able to resolve the issue and what they ended up doing. I am taking mine in for Warranty check up and want to have as much info as possible. Thanks
sorry guys, I was on spring break all of this past week. Everyone is wondering my results on my tranny, well I am happy to say that the clanking sound when I turn the ignition off has decreased 95%. There is still a little bit of a rattling noise but I have to really really listen for it. It sounds normal though. If your tranny is making very noticible noise then I would take it in. The problem ended up being the input shaft main bearing. The input shaft of the tranny was extremely wobbly. I would say it had 3-4mm of play in the shaft. The dealer put the 32010-CD009 transmission in and it is shifting perfectly and almost no noise when I shut off my ignition. I drove the car for a day after I got it back and the clutch felt very weird and I think it stuck for a split second, so I took it back and had them bleed the clutch and it has shifted perfectly ever since.
Now I have to get the dry start noise checked out. Anyone else have this problem? For the frist second of starting up my car it sounds like it is dry starting. It only does it if it has sat for a while (5+ hrs.) I can drive it and shut it off and restart it and it sounds fine. But the first start up of the day it sounds like it is dry starting. Since my car is an '05 I have been checking my oil level and I have driven about 2500 miles and the car is 2/3 a quart low.
Cliffs Notes:
Tranny is awesome, now we have motor issues
